"The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing revealed its intention to raise the level of representation of the ministry in the Saudi Green Program, by proposing 9 initiatives affiliated with the municipal services and infrastructure sector to link them to the Saudi Green Initiative, the most prominent of which is the afforestation initiative through building permits, and exemption from violations in exchange for afforestation.
This came in the context of a recent report issued by the Ministry, through which it also drew attention to the current situation of public utilities, parks and afforestation, as the number of parks and gardens in all its municipalities and municipalities reached 7,874 parks and gardens, with a total area of more than 142.4 million square meters. The number of municipal playgrounds of both types (children and adults) is 4,789, the number of planted trees is more than 21 million, and the area of green areas is approximately 194.9 million square meters.
