The “One-Third of the Sacrifice” initiative, launched by the Riyadh Region Municipality, contributed to distributing sacrificial meat to more than 207,000 beneficiaries during the Eid Al-Adha season of 1447 AH. This marked a 48% increase compared to approximately 140,000 beneficiaries in 1446 AH. The amount of donated meat also exceeded 220 tons, compared to 150 tons last year. The meat was distributed efficiently and reliably to eligible residents and families across the Riyadh Region, contributing to the promotion of social solidarity and the strengthening of bonds among members of the community.
This year, the initiative was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and in partnership with 89 charitable associations, compared to 60 non-profit charitable associations last year. The initiative also recorded a 182% increase in the number of volunteers, with the participation of 2,000 volunteers compared to 711 volunteers last year. This was carried out within an integrated system that reflects the growth of the initiative, the expansion of its social impact, and its contribution to achieving its Sharia-compliant objectives.
The “One-Third of the Sacrifice” initiative enabled residents of Riyadh city, as well as the governorates and centers of the region, to donate one-third of their sacrificial animals through 38 designated receiving locations. These locations operated within organized procedures that included approved slaughterhouses and the premises of participating associations, ensuring the receipt, sorting, packaging, and transportation of meat using refrigerated vehicles, and its delivery to eligible families according to reliable and well-organized procedures. This contributed to improving the efficiency of charitable work and accelerating the delivery of donations to those in need.
The initiative comes as an extension of the Riyadh Region Municipality’s strategy to strengthen qualitative partnerships with government entities and the non-profit sector, expand the impact of sustainable community initiatives, support organized charitable work, and improve quality of life.
