2026-05-18Riyadh Region Municipality has begun its operational and organizational preparations for Eid Al-Adha through the early arrangement of issuing temporary slaughtering permits for kitchens and establishments wishing to provide the service during the Eid days. This comes as part of an integrated plan aimed at organizing slaughtering activities, enhancing compliance with health and municipal requirements, and raising food safety standards across the capital.
Each year, the Municipality opens the application portal for temporary slaughtering permits as part of regulatory procedures that allow establishments to complete licensing requirements before the start of the season. This contributes to organizing the service, controlling operational practices, and preparing designated sites in accordance with approved requirements.
The requirements for issuing the permit include having a contract with a veterinarian to supervise slaughtering operations before, during, and after implementation. They also include providing health certificates for workers, preparing designated sites for slaughtering, skinning, and cutting in accordance with health standards, providing the necessary equipment, securing usable water, and allocating suitable containers and locations for disposing of waste resulting from slaughtering. The requirements also include organizing slaughtering operations, preventing overcrowding inside the sites, and clearly displaying the service prices for beneficiaries.
In conjunction with the sacrificial animal season, the Municipality carries out regulatory and field activities, including insect inspection and investigation, as well as the capture and control of stray animals. It also conducts field campaigns to monitor and control slaughtering activities inside unlicensed establishments, contributing to organizing the activity and limiting violations.
The Municipality also relies on direct field supervision of kitchens that have obtained temporary permits to verify their compliance with health and regulatory requirements. In addition, the relevant sectors follow up on random sites and address violations related to slaughtering outside licensed areas.
These efforts aim to enhance service efficiency and raise the level of health and regulatory compliance during seasonal periods, in line with the Municipality’s vision to be a leading municipality for a prosperous and sustainable Riyadh that enhances quality of life.
